All enamel pins in my shop are graded for quality. All pins are different and it's extremely rare that a pin comes out perfect. All people grade pins slightly differently, but this page serves as a guide for how I grade mine.
A Grade/Standard grade
A/Standard graded pins are as close to perfect as possible, but still may have some very minor flaws, only noticeable under heavy scrutiny. These flaws may include but aren't limited to:
- minor surface scuffing on the enamel or metal plating
- very small specs of dust in unnoticeable areas
- minor/unnoticeable enamel underfill
- minor/unnoticeable air bubbles
- small specs of dust in soft enamel pins
- fluctiations of color patterns in rainbow anodized plating
- small air bubbles in epoxy coating on pins that have it
- slightly offset screenprinting on pins that have it
B Grade/Seconds grade
B/Seconds graded pins have some more noticeable flaws under scrutiny but are still beautiful and lovely when worn or displayed. Some of these flaws may include but aren't limited to:
- slight but noticeable enamel underfill
- one small area of missing enamel
- larger specs of dust in enamel
- broken or missing lines of metal
- small gouges in the metal or enamel
- moderate/noticeable surface scuffing in enamel or metal
- small areas of discolored enamel
- enamel overfill that covers some metal lines
- dullness or miscoloration on rainbow anodized plating
- noticeably offset screenprinting on pins that have it
Seconds grade pins are offered at a $2-$5 discount from their regular price.
